Sawa EcoSolutions and Offset8 sign $50 Million Carbon Credit Partnership

Updated: Aug 7

Sawa EcoSolutions is thrilled to announce a landmark partnership with Offset8, an Abu Dhabi Global Market-based asset management firm, to launch Indonesia’s first large-scale carbon credit project. This collaboration includes a significant carbon credit offtake deal worth $50 million, setting a new benchmark in scalable carbon dioxide removal initiatives on both national and global levels.

Significance of the Partnership: The $50 million offtake deal with Offset8 is a groundbreaking achievement for Sawa and a first for Indonesia. This partnership is key to realizing not only our ambitious project in Majalengka, West Java, where we will convert 30,000 tonnes of sugarcane bagasse waste from the PG Rajawali II sugar factory into biochar each year, but also to enable the development of additional sites across the region. This process will generate substantial carbon credits while supporting sustainable agriculture and improving soil health on a broader scale.

Offset8’s commitment to scaling carbon projects globally has been instrumental in bringing this project to life. Their expertise and financial backing have provided the foundation needed to advance our mission of creating high-quality, third-party verified carbon credits. This partnership demonstrates the power of collaboration in driving meaningful climate action and expanding Indonesia's role in the global carbon market.

Project Overview: Our Majalengka facility will continuously process agricultural waste, turning it into biochar that serves as a valuable soil amendment while generating verified carbon credits. These credits will play a critical role in meeting international carbon standards and contributing to global efforts to combat climate change.

Looking Ahead: The collaboration between Sawa and Offset8 sets the stage for future carbon credit projects in Indonesia and beyond. As we continue to develop our operations, this partnership is expected to attract further interest and investment from global markets, solidifying Indonesia's position as a leader in sustainable carbon solutions.
