Sawa EcoSolutions is delighted to announce the grand opening of its first large-scale biochar production facility in Majalengka, West Java. This facility marks a significant milestone in our commitment to sustainable practices and carbon sequestration.
Partnership with PG Rajawali II: In collaboration with PG Rajawali II, a leading sugar producer in the region, the Majalengka facility will utilize excess sugarcane bagasse—a waste byproduct of sugar processing—to produce biochar. While the majority of the 1,000 tonnes of daily bagasse waste powers the factory’s boiler, the excess is typically stockpiled. By converting this excess into biochar, Sawa not only sequesters carbon but also mitigates potential hazards such as fire risks, respiratory issues, and pest infestations that arise from decomposing waste.
A Thriving Partnership: We are thrilled to partner with PG Rajawali II, a company that shares our commitment to finding sustainable solutions and enhancing the environmental footprint of their operations. This partnership is a testament to the growing recognition of the need for sustainable practices in Indonesia’s industrial sectors.
Grand Opening Event: The grand opening took place on April 24th and was attended by over 100 people, including notable members of the Indonesian Biochar Association, such as Pak Hashim Djojohadikusumo., and representatives from Offset8, including Ivan Mozharov. The event was a celebration of innovation and collaboration, highlighting the potential impact of this new facility.
Next Steps: Following the successful launch, the Majalengka facility will enter a 3-4 month testing and R&D phase. During this period, we will trial biochar production and fine-tune our processes to ensure consistent, high-quality output. This phase is critical as we work towards scaling up our operations to meet the growing demand for sustainable solutions in agriculture and beyond.
Congratulations and success
